Learning Disability Testing & Assessment: Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Ages 5-22

I provide evaluations for learning disabilities, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, for ages 5-22. An evaluation for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia helps us understand how your child’s brain takes in and works with reading, writing, and math. It is not about intelligence, effort, or motivation. Many children who need this type of evaluation are bright, curious, and capable, but their learning style does not match how these skills are typically taught. The goal of the evaluation is to identify: why learning feels harder in certain areas; what your child’s strengths are; and what supports will help your child learn more comfortably and confidently. Neurodivergent individuals (individuals who have a brain that works a little differently) are often neurodivergent in more than one way, so the evaluation is comprehensive and explores all needed areas of functioning identified through the intake process. All evaluations are tailored to the individual child. Many neurodivergent individuals experience co-occurring mental health symptoms (e.g., anxiety), which are also assessed for. I aim to help you determine what your child needs to learn in a way that suits their unique learning style. From the evaluation, you’ll receive: A clear explanation of findings in plain language; identification of any learning differences (if present); a strengths-based profile of how your child learns; and specific educational and private service recommendations. A diagnosis, if given, is a tool. It helps schools provide appropriate instruction and helps children understand themselves.

Fun Facts: 1- Daniel Radcliffe (played Harry Potter) has dysgraphia; 2- People with dyslexia often excel at seeing overall meaning, patterns, and relationships, rather than getting stuck in small details.
